Scattered Prisms are rare and coveted crafting materials in Diablo 4, primarily used for adding sockets to gear. These sockets allow players to insert gems, runes, or jewels, providing various bonuses and enhancements to their characters.
They are notoriously difficult to find. Even when salvaging Legendary Gear or hunting Treasure Goblins, the drop rate for these rare crafting materials is low, making them a prized and elusive commodity.
How to Get Scattered Prisms Diablo 4
Scattered Prisms can be acquired by defeating World Boss that drop Grand Cache which contains Scattered Prisms, hunting elusive Treasure Goblins to get Scattered Prisms drops, salvaging Legendary Gear, or exploring hidden cellars.
World Bosses

World Bosses are powerful enemies that spawn at specific locations in the game world of Sanctuary. They are much stronger than regular bosses and require a group of players to defeat. The best part of defeating these World Bosses is the high drop rate of rare crafting materials like Scattered Prisms.

Treasure Goblins
Treasure Goblins carry a sack of treasures, which can include gold, gear, and crafting materials. Unlike World Bosses, they do not attack but they are very fast and elusive, making them hard to catch and defeat. There is a chance that Treasure Goblins will drop one or two Scattered Prisms upon defeat.
How to Find Treasure Goblins
Treasure Goblins can appear anywhere in Sanctuary including dungeons and cellars. There is no exact location for the Treasure Goblin cellar. The cellars are random, and you'll need luck to find a Treasure Goblin cellar.
Sanctuary & Dungeons
Pay attention to the mini-map when exploring. A Treasure Goblin icon will appear on the minimap when there is one nearby. When you encounter Treasure Goblins, make chasing and defeating them your top priority, even if there are other enemies around.
Cellars
- Enter the cellar and listen for the sound of Treasure Goblins murmuring and laughing.
- If you don't hear them, leave the cellar and the game to reset the instance.
- Re-enter the cellar to check for the goblins.
How to Defeat Treasure Goblins
Treasure Goblins will attempt to escape through a portal if not engaged quickly. They are very fast and will escape after a certain period, so use movement-impairing or stun abilities to stop them from escaping.
Utilize high burst damage abilities to quickly bring down the goblin's health, and save your most potent abilities for these encounters to ensure a quick kill.
Salvaging Legendary Gear
Salvaging Legendary Gear is another method for obtaining Scattered Prisms. While this approach may not be as direct as defeating World Bosses or Treasure Goblins, it provides players with an additional way to get Scattered Prisms.
How to Salvage
- Go to Blacksmith: Every major town or city in Diablo 4 will have a Blacksmith.
- Open the Salvage Tab: Once you're at the Blacksmith, navigate to the Salvage tab.
- Inventory Selection: Your inventory will appear alongside a salvaging window.
- Choose Gear: Select the Legendary Gear you wish to salvage by clicking on it.
- Review: A preview window will show the potential materials you could receive.
- Confirm Salvage: Click the 'Salvage' button to proceed. This will destroy the item and provide you with crafting materials.
Cellars

Cellars are underground areas scattered throughout the world of Sanctuary. They are often hidden and require keen observation to find. These areas are filled with various types of enemies and often end with a mini-boss or a treasure chest, making them a high-risk, high-reward venture.
Cellar Locations
- Local Legends: NPCs in nearby towns may provide hints or quests that lead to cellars.
- Visual Cues: Look for unusual markings or objects that seem out of place, as they may indicate a hidden cellar entrance.
- Hidden Entrances: Cellars often have hidden entrances that may require you to interact with the environment to reveal them.
- Off the Beaten Path: Cellars are often located in less-traveled areas, encouraging exploration.
