No Sudden Moves Walkthrough

Initiate the No Sudden Moves quest by speaking to Vladimir, then join Barrett to approach the Scow ship orbiting Procyon V-B. Choose to negotiate entry, and once aboard, navigate to Petrov. After a dialogue, where Barrett's intervention can be humorous and effective, you are challenged to seize the artifact. Confront Petrov, neutralize threats, and escape with the artifact to complete the mission.

1. Start the Mission

The "No Sudden Moves" mission will have you embark on the ship of Captain Petrov, an eccentric collector with a past connection to Barrett. If you're aiming to acquire another artifact, you'll need to embrace your inner space pirate for this mission.

2. Finding the Artifact

Upon starting the quest, you'll converse with Vladimir. He informs you about Captain Petrov, who reportedly possesses an artifact he's unwilling to part with. It's your task, along with a companion, to discover Petrov's breaking point and secure the artifact.

3. Prepare for the Heist

Vladimir provides insights about Petrov and expects you to steal the artifact. Once you're prepared, Barrett becomes your designated companion. You'll then head to your ship, detach from The Eye, and set course for the Scow ship orbiting Procyon V-B. Here, you have two choices:

  • Disable the engines
  • Negotiate your way in

For a less violent approach, hail the ship and persuade the individual on the radio. If Barrett speaks on your behalf, the interaction might not go smoothly due to Petrov's disdain for him. However, you'll still have the chance to persuade, leading to a humorous outcome. After getting clearance, board the ship.

4. Meet Captain Petrov

Inside the Scow, you'll encounter Tao Xun, who isn't particularly friendly. After a brief interaction, he'll allow you to meet Petrov. As you navigate the ship, avoid touching anything until you meet Petrov, who is depicted as an eccentric individual. Bethesda ensures players won't feel guilty about stealing from him.

Petrov will express his unwillingness to part with his treasured artifact. This is where Barrett plays a crucial role. You can persuade Petrov, confront him, or let Barrett exclaim, "Petroooooov! It's me!" This dialogue is both amusing and effective, leading Petrov to reconcile with Barrett and show you the vault.

5. The Confrontation

Follow Petrov to the vault where he showcases the artifact. Prepare for a tense conversation. Petrov will make it clear he won't hand over the artifact, essentially daring you to steal it.

6. Steal the Artifact

Realizing Petrov's intent to flaunt his new acquisition, it's time to seize the artifact by force. After exhausting all diplomatic avenues, draw your weapon and take the artifact. Petrov and his crew will turn hostile. If you have a shotgun, use it against Petrov. Once he's incapacitated, he'll plead for mercy. Command him to call off his crew and let you depart. He'll comply as long as you spare his life.

7. Add the Artifact to the Collection

Exit the Scow, and you can loot anything from Petrov's vault or ship. Return to your vessel, and Petrov's crew will label you a pirate, though they won't engage. Once back at the Lodge, place the artifact in the collection. Completing "No Sudden Moves" will lead you to the "High Price to Pay" quest, presenting the game's most challenging decision.
