Helltide is a region-wide event in Diablo 4 that becomes available starting in World Tier 3 difficulty. The event features empowered servants of Lilith with increased difficulty. Monsters in Helltide-affected areas are stronger, but this increased difficulty is balanced by the quality of the loot.
Diablo 4 Where is Helltide?
Helltides will appear on the map every 2 hours in any of the five regions of Sanctuary: Fractured Peaks, Dry Steppes, Scosglen, Kehjistan, or Hawezar. The event will last for 1 hour before disappearing. To find Helltide on the map, players can look for specific icons on the map and a reddish hue in the sky. During the Helltide events, the sky darkens, rivers turn red, and meteors descend, signaling the onset of a Helltide event.
How to Unlock Helltide
To unlock Helltides, players must reach at least World Tier 3 difficulty level. Once you've achieved this milestone, Helltide events become accessible and can occur randomly once every 2 hours on the map.
Upon reaching the 3 World Tier or difficulty level, you'll start receiving notifications for upcoming Helltide events. These notifications can appear as in-game messages or can be tracked through specialized community websites like Helltides.com. The game will send out a worldwide message right before a Helltide event starts, so you'll always know when to prepare for the next challenge.
Helltide Rewards
In Helltide events, players will slay demons and collect a unique currency called Aberrant Cinders. These Cinders are required for opening various types of Helltide Chests called Tortured Gifts scattered across the event's region. While the locations for these chests are fixed, they randomly move around every hour during the event. To track these chests, play can visit Helltides.com which will show the current exact location of these chests.
Tortured Gift of Mysteries has a higher chance of dropping legendary and unique items. However, this chest also requires the most Cinders, so players should weigh the risk and reward carefully. If a player dies during a Helltide event, they will lose half of their accumulated Cinders.
Chest Type | Required Cinders | Possible Rewards |
---|---|---|
Tortured Gift of Protection | 75 Cinders | Boots, Chest, Helm, Gloves, Pants |
Tortured Gift of Jewelry | 125 Cinders | Various Jewelry |
Tortured Gift of Weaponry | 150 Cinders | Various Weapons |
Tortured Gift of Mysteries | 250 Cinders | Legendary Items, Unique Items, Crafting Materials, Cosmetic Items |
Tortured Gifts of Mysteries cost 250 Aberrant Cinders to open and have a chance to drop between 1 to 5 Legendary items. The number of Mystery Chests that spawn varies depending on the region. For example, Kehjistan has more than four Mystery Chest spawn locations, with three active at any given time.
